If you have priced furniture in the Valley lately, you already know the problem. A decent sectional runs well past two thousand dollars. A solid dresser is six hundred before tax. Then they tell you it ships in eight weeks.
We do it differently. We buy name-brand overstock and major retailer returns by the truckload, unload it in Harrisonburg, and sell it at 30 to 50 percent of retail. Cash and carry, same day.
Why it costs less
Big retailers move enormous volume, and volume creates leftovers. Colors get discontinued. Orders get canceled. A pallet gets buried in a distribution center and misses its window. A customer opens the box, decides the gray is too warm, and sends it back.
None of that furniture can go back on a retail floor at full price. It gets liquidated by the truckload.
That is what we buy. We are not making anything, we are not refurbishing anything, and we are not marking anything up twice. We buy it right and we sell it fast, because the next truck is coming and it needs the floor space.
What the words actually mean
Overstock means never sold and never used. Usually still boxed or wrapped.
Customer return means somebody bought it and sent it back. Sometimes it was assembled and sat in a living room for a week. Sometimes the box was never opened.
Neither word means broken. Most of the floor is in the condition you would expect off a retail truck.
Flaws get tagged
The pieces that do have damage are marked. A chip on a corner, a scratch across a top, a scuffed back panel that faces the wall anyway. We put a tag on it and we price it accordingly.
You will not get a surprise. You look at the piece in person, you see what you are buying, and you decide. That is why the price is what it is.
Some of the best value on the floor is the flawed stuff. A three hundred dollar dresser with one dinged corner is still a three hundred dollar dresser.
Worth the drive
We are in Harrisonburg, which puts us inside an hour of most of the Valley. Staunton and Waynesboro run about 30 to 40 minutes down 81. Elkton and Bridgewater are 15 to 20. Broadway, Timberville and New Market are a straight shot up Route 42 or Route 11. Woodstock and Luray are worth the hour if you are furnishing a whole room.
People drive from all of those towns, and they drive because the math works. Saving eight hundred dollars on a sectional pays for a lot of gas.
One tip if you are coming from out of town: message us before you load up the family. Tell us what you are after and we will tell you honestly whether it is on the floor today. We would rather lose the trip than waste yours.
How to shop a liquidation floor
A few things make the difference between leaving with a great deal and leaving empty handed.
Measure first. Know your door width, your stairwell turn, and the wall the piece is going against. Bring the numbers written down.
Come early. Trucks turn the floor over, and the best pieces move on the first day they hit the floor. Nothing here is restockable. When it is gone it is gone.
Bring a truck. Most people haul the same day. Our crew helps you load.
Decide on the floor. We do not hold pieces without payment. First come, first served, every time.
