This is the category where the savings get loud. A sectional is the single most expensive thing most people buy for a living room, and it is the piece retail marks up hardest.
We buy name-brand overstock and major retailer returns by the truckload and sell at 30 to 50 percent of retail. On a big sectional, that gap is usually four figures.
What we stock
L-shaped sectionals with a chaise. Modular sectionals that come apart into three, four or five pieces. Power reclining sets. Standard sofas. Loveseats. Sleeper sofas. Oversized cloud style seating. Recliners and oversized accent chairs.
Leather and fabric both. Cream, gray, navy, cognac, taupe, and whatever the discontinued color of the month happens to be, which is often where the best price is hiding.
The floor turns over as trucks unload, so the specific piece changes week to week. The categories do not.
Get the chaise orientation right
If you are buying an L-shaped sectional, this is the one thing people get wrong.
Sit on the couch facing it. If the long chaise is on your left, that is a left facing chaise. On your right, right facing. Walk your room before you come and know which one your wall needs.
We tag orientation on the piece. Ask if you are not sure. Getting this wrong means a sectional that blocks a doorway forever.
Modular is easier to move
A four piece modular sofa goes up a stairwell. A single frame L-sectional often does not.
If you live in a walkup, an apartment with a tight landing, or a house with a turn at the top of the stairs, look at the modular pieces first. They break down, they ride in a pickup bed, and they reassemble in ten minutes with no tools.
This matters a lot if you are furnishing an apartment near JMU.
Measure before you fall in love
Three numbers. Write them down.
The wall the piece is going against. The narrowest doorway between the truck and the room. The stairwell turn if there is one.
Standard sofas run roughly 78 to 90 inches. Sectionals go 100 to 130 inches on the long side. If your wall is 96 inches, that is a real constraint and no amount of wanting it changes the math.
Also check your ceiling and outlet situation if you are looking at power recliners. They need to plug in somewhere.
Condition, plainly
Overstock means never sold. A lot of it arrives wrapped and stays wrapped until it goes out the door.
Returns mean somebody bought it, then sent it back. The usual reasons are the room was too small, the color read differently in person, or the delivery window blew up. None of those hurt the couch.
Some pieces have a flaw. A scuff on a back panel, a mark on an arm, a seam that needs a stitch. We tag it, we point it out, and we price it down. Sit on it, look at it, decide with your own eyes.
Cushion covers on most fabric pieces come off and go in a washer. Ask us which ones.
Bring a truck and a friend
Sectionals are heavy. Our crew helps you load, but bring a truck or trailer and bring somebody with a back.
If you cannot haul it, ask about delivery. We can usually arrange it locally. Ask when you are paying.
We do not hold pieces without payment. On sectionals especially, first come first served, because these are the pieces that move on day one.
Come sit on it
You cannot buy a couch off a screen and know anything real about it. Come to the Harrisonburg warehouse and sit down on four of them.
